Book surf lessons online

Everyone has a full agenda these days and prefers to manage it themselves. We respond to this by our own online booking system. You schedule your own lessons when it suits you best. If the surf lesson cannot take place due to weather conditions, it will be communicated at least two days in advance. You can then easily move the lesson to another time. We create  tailor-made surf lessons, matching your agenda, surfing experience and level. In addition to surf lessons in the Netherlands, you can also book a  surf holiday in Italy  book !

Wing surfing/wing foiling

Difference between Wingsurfing & Wingfoiling

Wingsurfing is the basis for wingfoiling. The introduction lesson will always be a wingsurf lesson. Each participant gets his own inflatable board and wing. When wingsurfing you use the wing, this is an inflatable wing. With the wing you convert the wind into speed so that you can wingsurf over the water. When wing foiling we use a wingboard where we attach a so-called hydrofoil underneath. With the hydrofoil it enables you to come completely out of the water. This means you no longer have any resistance and you actually fly over the water! This is already possible with very light wind and makes wing foiling really spectacular.

WINGFOIL YOUTH ACADEMY

GWA Wingsports association.png

Unique at WingXperience! We have set up the Wingsuf Young Academy especially for children.

Wing foiling is the latest water sport, which is still developing rapidly. In addition to the adults, we also want to respond immediately to the kids in this early stage. After all, learned young, done old.

In addition, wing foiling is much more accessible to children than, for example, kite surfing, which entails many more dangers. Compared to windsurfing, the compact wing foil material is a big advantage (especially for children because they still use smaller material than adults).
In short: it's time to create the Dutch Young Wingfoil Groms!

Age
Wing foiling does require some strength and a certain weight. That is why our Young Academy is suitable from the age of 9 (with some exceptions).

Material
We use the small wings especially for the kids. These differ in size between 1.5m2 – 4.0m2. The boards are inflatable boards. In the beginning of large volume with a lot of buoyancy (140L), so that children can concentrate on the basics. Later the boards can vary between 35L-90L.
We start with short masts of 50cm with foil front wings between 1500m2 – 2000m2.

Equipment and safety
It's important that the kids don't lose the fun because of the wrong equipment! We have wetsuits and shoes available in different children's sizes. In addition, they always receive a life jacket from us. As soon as we start foiling, we also wear a helmet.

Teaching method

The intention is to learn how to wingfoil in a 'playful way'. For example, we alternate with games in between.

Step 1: Basics (lace)

We get to know the material and we start by getting acquainted with the wing on  de side.
There is much more to every water sport than just practicing the sport. For example, we have to learn to understand the wind: which wind directions are there, what is cruising, what is sailing before the wind, etc. We deal with all this in wingsurf step 1.

Step 2: Wing + Board + Safety (Water)
With wing and large board with side fins  (without foil), we go out on the water. We learn to get up, keep balance and sail away independently. Before we go sailing ourselves, we learn how you can always safely come back independently. .
The basics of step 1 are constantly repeated and applied.

Step 3: Cruising up, walking uphill (water)
We learn to cross up on the big board, by having the right foot & wing position and watching where you go. The challenge is to get back to the same place where we started.

Step 4: wing + foil (water)
In this step, the focus is on the foil. How does the foil work? We learn the correct pump technique to get on the foil and to 'fly' the first meters.

Step 5: stable wingfoilen

In this step, the focus is on foiling, staying stable above the water. Being able to surf long stretches on the foil.

Step 6: Jibe and tack on the foil

If you manage to stay on the foil for long stretches, the next step is to practice the tack and jibe on the foil. In the beginning this is quite exciting but you learn this very quickly. Lookhere's a videohow one of us makes a jibe on the foil.

The method is divided into six levels. Each level   indicates what you should master to advance to the next level. Our teaching method is recommended by theGWA(Global Wing Sports Association

The Wingfoil & Wingsurf materials

We have selected the best materials to teach wingssurf and wingfoil. We have opted for inflatable boards. These are inflatable boards from the RRD brand, the boards are produced in such a way that you hardly notice that they are inflatable boards. The advantages of inflatable boards are mainly that they are lightweight and you hurt yourself much less in the event of a fall compared to a hardboard. We have the boards in different sizes:

Because the boards have a lot of buoyancy, it is easier to learn the basics of wing surfing and wing foiling. You are more stable on the board and this gives you more confidence.

In the first lessons we work without Foil, this is wingsurfing. We always use the RRD Airbeluga 200 and 235 for this. Because these boards are equipped with the option to surf without Foil. When we make the step to wing foiling, we have again made conscious choices to learn foiling as familiar and safe as possible.

We use RRD's 2400 Universal SW Foil with a shortermast of 50 cm. The advantage of starting with a large surface front wing of 2400cm2 is that you get a lot of lift. So it is easier to get on the Foil. The short mast ensures that you get used to the feeling of floating above the water. During all lessons with the Foil, the students wear a helmet. In both the wingsurf and wingfoil lessons, the students wear an orange lycra to be clearly visible on the water.
