About WingXperience & the Watersport Academy
Since 2022, we have been closely involved in developing the Wingfoiling Self-Reliance (Eigenvaardigheid) diploma pathway. We didn’t just put the content on paper — we also made it visually accessible through clear level videos.
In collaboration with a team of professionals, we also developed the Wingfoiling Instructor Training, which was successfully launched for the first time in 2024. This course falls under the Watersport Academy, the quality label for water sports diplomas.
Participation requirements

Wingsurfing/wingfoiling
Difference between Wingsurfing & Wingfoiling
Wingsurfing is the basis for wingfoiling. The introduction lesson will always be a wingsurf lesson. Each participant gets his own inflatable board and wing. When wingsurfing you use the wing, this is an inflatable wing. With the wing you convert the wind into speed so that you can wingsurf over the water. When wing foiling we use a wingboard where we attach a so-called hydrofoil underneath. With the hydrofoil it enables you to come completely out of the water. This means you no longer have any resistance and you actually fly over the water! This is already possible with very light wind and makes wing foiling really spectacular.

Lesson method
From wing surfing to wing foiling
When teaching our wing foil lessons, we use the teaching method developed by WingXperience in collaboration with MB Pro Center, tailored to the RRD materials. The method is divided into six levels. Each level indicates what you should master to advance to the next. Our teaching method is recommended by the GWA (Global Wingsports Association).

The Wingfoil & Wingsurf materials
We have selected the best materials to teach wingssurf and wingfoil. We have opted for inflatable boards. These are inflatable boards from the RRD brand, the boards are produced in such a way that you hardly notice that they are inflatable boards. The advantages of inflatable boards are mainly that they are lightweight and you hurt yourself much less in the event of a fall compared to a hardboard. We have the boards in different sizes:
-
RRD Air Beluga140 litres
-
RRD Air Beluga200 litres
-
RRD Air Beluga235 litres
Because the boards have a lot of buoyancy, it is easier to learn the basics of wing surfing and wing foiling. You are more stable on the board and this gives you more confidence.
In the first lessons we work without Foil, this is wingsurfing. We always use the RRD Airbeluga 200 and 235 for this. Because these boards are equipped with the option to surf without Foil. When we make the step to wing foiling, we have again made conscious choices to learn foiling as familiar and safe as possible.
We use RRD's 2400 Universal SW Foil with a shorter mast of 50 cm. The advantage of starting with a large surface front wing of 2400cm2 is that you get a lot of lift. So it is easier to get on the Foil. The short mast ensures that you get used to the feeling of floating above the water. During all lessons with the Foil, the students wear a helmet. In both the wingsurf and wingfoil lessons, the students wear an orange lycra to be clearly visible on the water.
